Basic is beautiful

Have you noticed that the more simple the skill the less intentionally people work to develop it? Listening, empathy, and self-awareness fit this category.

They seem so obvious but they rarely get good practice, let alone deep and disciplined development.

Here’s a simple rule: if it’s simple and obvious, work incredibly hard at it your entire life because most people won’t. They’ll stay extremely average at something incredibly basic. That’s a quick way to separate yourself.

Embrace the chase. Do the work.
