Choosing improvement over ego.

Ego has been discussed for thousands of years and debated for hundreds. Let’s not play word games and get caught up in intellectual debates on meaning. Ego is the need to be right, avoid criticism, and protect your image above all else. It can be loud and obvious, but more frequently quiet and unassuming. Flashy egos are easy to see, but subtle egos are more dangerous, because they hide behind innocent appearing masks.

One simple tell for ego is the willingness to seek the truth and do something about it, despite what other people say, how you think it affects your image, and whatever you’ve done in the past. Make your decision clear and your action obvious. If you want to improve, then drop your desire for ego. If you want your ego, then drop your desire for improvement.

Do the work.
