Speaking the truth when you’re afraid or uncertain of the reaction can feel intimidating. Hearing the truth, it turns out, can be even harder.

The things we most need to hear are often the things we’re most likely to reject.

Make room in your life for people who care about you enough to say it without apologizing and hold you to it without compromising. Or make it intimidating for people to tell you truth and hold you to a standard because you refuse to hear it.

You’ll choose one or the other.
