Understanding Emotions

Your emotions are talking to you and they’re trying to say something. Emotions are not things to ignore. Emotions are things to understand. You don’t have to do what they say but you also don’t have to pretend you don’t feel something.

Emotions are part of every thought, every decision, and every action. You want them to enhance you, not harm you. You want emotions to energize and propel you to do what you need to do as well as you can do it. You don’t want them push you into default action or prevent you from disciplined action.

Emotions are powerful. Anything as powerful as emotions needs to be understood, guided, and used with as much intention as possible. Give yourself permission to feel something without being controlled by it. Listen to your emotions, evaluate them, and decide whether they’re moving you into discipline or dragging you into default.

Do the work.
