In an attempt to justify complaining, people portray it as either virtuous or harmless. It’s neither. Anyone can complain, plenty of people do, and its negative effects are constantly felt, both by those who do it and those who experience it.

  1. Complaining perpetuates your problems by ignoring available solutions.
  2. Complaining turns minor problems into big ones and big ones into disasters.
  3. Complaining injects toxic negativity that damages your relationships.
  4. Complaining places a self-centered lens over your view of the world that filters out important truth.
  5. Complaining decreases the value you provide and increases the difficulty of interacting with you.
  6. The more you complain, the more you see yourself as a victim. The more you see yourself as a victim, the more you act like one.

Embrace the chase. Do the work.
