Why don’t I trust life experience?

Disciplined learning is an active choice. It only happens if you make it happen. It isn’t, despite what many still believe, a byproduct of life experience. That’s default learning. Which is less like learning and more like embedding opinions based on a pattern of emotional experiences.

I believe you don’t really start learning until you choose to. Pay attention to gaps in your knowledge. Observe the limits in your execution. Seek experience beyond your own. Decide to learn with an uncommon discipline.

Embrace the chase. Do the work.
