The process can’t be skipped, but it can be shortened.
Discipline adds value to every part of your life. One of the most important and overlooked is this:
Internal needs are difficult to pursue directly. At times impossible. We indirectly try to fulfill our internal needs by pursuing external desires.
External pursuits provide a canvas to fulfill our needs. But, achieving external goals, no matter how many, never satisfies our real needs.
That kind of fulfillment doesn't happen because of success. It happens because of struggle.
Success without struggle is empty and unsatisfying.
You fulfill your needs through the pursuit, not the achievement. You need something to work toward and struggle to achieve if you're going to fulfill your real needs. Including the needs you can't articulate, don't realize, or won't acknowledge.
You discover yourself through the struggle to achieve. You discover your needs and how to fulfill them through the pain of the pursuit.
But only if you choose to pursue something. And only if you press forward through every challenge, fear, barrier, and adversary.
Brick by brick. Do the work.
