Are you choosing style over substance?

People reject valuable lessons every day because they don't like how those lessons are delivered.

Someone gives you feedback in a harsh tone, so you ignore the truth in their words. A lesson comes from a source you don't respect, so you reject it. The packaging is flawed, so you throw out what's inside.

You're choosing style over substance. And it's costing you.

Think of it like medicine. Sometimes the cure comes in a bitter pill. You can spit it out because you don't like the taste, or you can swallow it and get better. Sometimes the only way to get to the right place in your body is through a needle or surgery.

You choose whether to take treatment or take your chances.

Valuable lessons don't always arrive in clean packaging. Sometimes the messages you need come through imperfect people in imperfect ways. Sometimes you're the imperfect source delivering lessons in clunky ways.

When you receive a lesson wrapped in a style you don't like, acknowledge the style disconnect, then set it aside. Focus on the substance. Extract what's valuable. Discard what isn't.

Most people choose style over substance. Choose substance over style.

It's fine to have style preferences. It's not fine to make style your filter and miss every lesson that doesn't match your taste.

Your integrity, your growth, and your life demands better.

Event + Response = Outcome. Do the work.
