Do your opinions hurt or help you?

You are free to have any opinion, perspective, or emotion about anything that happens to you.

There’s no “should” or “have to” or “can’t” about how you perceive what happens in your life. Those choices are entirely up to you.

That doesn’t mean any opinion, perspective, or emotion is effective, accurate, fair, useful, or even reasonable. They’re not. They’re just yours to choose. Your perspectives’ effectiveness, accuracy, and value is a separate issue.

One of life’s great tests and primary differentiators between people is:

  • How you see the events of your life.
  • How you see yourself affected by events.
  • What you believe about yourself, others, and the future.

Your opinions, perspectives, and emotions are yours to choose. So if any of them are draining you, derailing you, or dragging you down, change them.

It’s in your power to choose how you see yourself and what happens around you at any time.

The time is now. Do the work.
