Everyone struggles with this responsibility

We know we are responsible for the things in our control, but what about everything else? What's our responsibility for all the stuff we encounter that we don't control?

We are responsible for that, too. Why? It's simple. We are responsible for how we respond to situations we didn't create.

I didn't decide to raise interest rates, but I'm responsible for how I respond to that environment. You don't define the political climate heading into an election year, but you are responsible for how you interact in it. We don't control our teammates or family members, but we are responsible for how we respond to whatever they do.

Just because we aren't the cause of a circumstance doesn't free us from responsibility for how we handle it. We operate within a massive world of unpredictable, uncontrollable, and sometimes unfair events beyond our control. It's an inescapable reality of life. An incredible amount of our success and happiness revolves around how well we respond to circumstances not of our doing that we can't dictate or undo.

Whether or not we created something is irrelevant to our level of responsibility. The relevant question is: What is my responsibility for responding to the set of circumstances I'm in?

We are 100% responsible for everything in our control. That means we are responsible for how we choose to respond to everything we don't control.

The time is now. Do the work.
