We have established four things over the past week:
- We experience internal alignment when forces within us pull in one unified direction. We experience internal misalignment when two or more forces within us pull in different directions.
- Internal alignment strengthens action and accelerates goals. Internal misalignment weakens action and blocks goals.
- Unmet goals wait on strength of action. Strength of action waits on internal alignment.
- Stronger internal alignment happens by adding, removing, or unifying forces.
A working compass knows where North is. You can spin it, twist it, flip it, and shake it. It will point North.
Before you can make disciplined decisions about your internal alignment, you must know what you are aligning with. Is it a purpose? A goal? A code? A promise? A preference? An impulse?
Most of the reason people get internally misaligned is because they have not decided what to align themselves with. In the absence of a true chosen North, many things claim to be North, depending on the moment.
A working compass points North, no matter what. You rely on its internal alignment. You never know what direction a broken compass points, so you have no idea where it is leading you.
What is the true North you want to align yourself, and the forces within you, toward?
Brick by brick. Do the work.
