Go Forward or Go Back

You can second-guess your decisions as much as you want. You still made them. You set consequences in motion.

Second-guessing yourself in circles won’t change that. It will just consume you and send you into a spiral. You end up stuck in no man’s land.

When you catch yourself second-guessing your decisions, you have a few disciplined options:

  1. Commit to the choice, see it through, and maximize it.
  2. Change the choice, adjust it, and improve it.
  3. Apologize for the choice, to yourself or others, and own it.
  4. Learn from the choice, correct it, and do better next time.

Each of these moves you out of anxiety and into action. They keep you from getting stuck in second-guess purgatory.

Discipline is the shortcut. Do the work.
