It takes a lot more than reading to make a person smarter.

I read books with a purpose. I don’t read to stay informed. I don’t read because it’s a best-seller. I don’t read to pull out a few nuggets. I read for the specific purpose of changing or enhancing my life. Not generally with interesting information, specifically with valuable action.

For me, that happens through a book in three ways:

  1. It alters my belief or perspective of the world and the way I operate in it.
  2. It teaches me a skill I apply, practice, and perform.
  3. It provides me with a new or more valuable system I implement.

Read with purpose. More importantly, evaluate how you use what you read. Filling yourself with information you don’t apply is a waste of time. Improve what you consume and focus on how you use it.

Embrace the chase. Do the work.

PS - Reply and tell me the best book you’ve ever applied in your life and what it did for you.
