Lessons we’re not ready to learn

You know what you need to do. Deep down, you've known for a while. But knowing is not doing and doing lives in a different universe than knowing.

Answers to the problems you’ve been wrestling with are available. Some of them are sitting right in front of you. They’ve been there for months, maybe years.

But every time the solution shows up, you look the other way. Why? Because the solution requires you to become someone you're not ready to be yet.

Think about advice you've heard a hundred times. "Exercise more." "Eat better." “Stay patient.” “Have that difficult conversation."

You nod. You agree. Then you don’t do what you know is necessary. The lesson—and the truth along with it—bounces off you like rain off a windshield.

Here's the truth: Either you choose when to learn the lesson, or life chooses for you. One way feels like growth. The other feels like getting hit by a truck.

Most people default to the truck option. Guess how that experience goes?
