Let go of “supposed to”.

What is life supposed to be?

It’s a simple question. But the answer can feel like a moving target, depending on the day or season of you’re in.

The phrase “supposed to” invites subjective opinions and expectations. What you think life is “supposed to be” could be drastically different for someone else. It reflects your understanding of reality and what you believe you’re entitled to experience or avoid.

How you answer affects everything about how you respond to situations.
Your mind asks this constantly: “Is this supposed to happen? Am I supposed to feel like this? Is life supposed to be like this?”

The real answer, for all of us, is that life isn’t supposed to be anything.

You want it to go a certain way. You hope certain things never happen. You want more of some feelings and less of others. Everyone thinks about these things. But none of that means life is supposed to be that way.

Life is everything. It’s all of it. The whole spectrum. Different things at different times in different ways for different reasons. All of it is possible. All of it will happen. Sooner or later you’ll experience most of it.

It’s only when you let go of what you think life is supposed to be that you’re able to live freely. Make your life everything it can be instead of what you think it’s supposed to be.

Event + Response = Outcome. Do the work.
