One big truth about your internal world

Everyone has two worlds — their external world and their internal world. Both present challenges.

In the external world there is one, massively complex set of events unfolding. We’re only aware of a fraction of it, given our limited view. We only know what we see, we all see different things, and we all see them differently.

In our internal world, there are infinite events happening at the same time. We make decisions, set priorities, determine value, create opinions, evaluate threats, make meaning, hide insecurities, fear judgment, battle doubt, maintain identity, hold back emotions, talk to ourselves, and determine what to do about what we see.

In the external world, we interact with each other. We discuss, debate, and decide how we’re collectively doing. In our internal world, we only interact with ourselves. We rarely allow other people a deep look at what we’re doing in there and to discuss, debate, and decide how we’re doing it.

Something worth considering.

Do the work.
