Patience, Perspective, and Precision

Four ways to sharpen your precision in a moment of impulse:

  1. State your bigger purpose out loud and why this impulse deserves priority or doesn’t.
  2. Articulate how the action your impulse wants to take compares to not doing it.
  3. Acknowledge the downside of acting on the impulse and if the price is worth it.
  4. Remind yourself of the person you aim to be and whether this impulse fulfills your ideal vision of yourself.

All you have to do is ask these questions and answer them honestly. It requires a little extra patience and an expanded perspective, but if you’re willing to bring precision like this, you’ll improve the quality of your decisions.

The time is now. Do the work.
