Put away your crystal ball

It is not in our power to accurately forecast the future of the world and predict what will happen. We can't even accurately forecast the next 12 months of our lives. We can guess. We can plan. We can assess probabilities and anticipate possibilities but cannot accurately predict. There are dozens of inaccurate predictions for every accurate prediction.

We might not be able to predict, but we can choose worthy pursuits and respond to what circumstances unfold with clarity of purpose.

It's outside our power to accurately predict events or how people will act. However, it's in our power to do right in pursuit of what we feel is right so that even when we fail—and we will—we can stand by what we did.
