The truths we don’t want to be true

A story can change the perception of truth but cannot change the truth itself. A story only clarifies or conceals truth. No amount of story changes the truth.

A story can threaten the truth, but the truth can also threaten a story.

When someone immerses themselves in their story, it becomes their reality. What’s true doesn’t matter. The story is what matters. Their identity and security rely on it. They resist what deviates, discredits, or damages their story. Even when what they’re resisting is true.

The truth feels like a threat to their truth. Sometimes, the truth feels like it threatens my truth. Sometimes, it feels like it threatens your truth.

But truth isn’t a threat. Truth only feels like a threat when you don’t want it to be true.

Brick by brick. Do the work.
