Who and what controls change in your life?

You have two choices:

  1. Wait for your circumstances to change so you don't have to change.
  2. Change without waiting for anything or anyone else to change.

By choosing #1, you relinquish control. You could wait your whole life for a change that never happens. If a change does happen, there's no certainty it will work in your favor. If it does work in your favor, there's no guarantee it won't change again and again.

By choosing #2, you retain control. You decide what to change, when, and how. When change happens around you, you change along with it. If a change works in your favor, you can leverage it for maximum value. If it doesn't work in your favor, you're willing to change yourself.

So the question isn't, "Do I want to change?"

The question is, "Do I want to retain or relinquish control of change in my life?"
