You’re more blind than you believe

We are not smart enough to predict with certainty what is going to happen. Of course, that doesn't stop us from guessing or believing we know what will happen. But we don't know. Even the brightest, most well-informed,  connected, successful minds in the world don't know what will happen. So, like us, they guess and move forward as best they can.

The difference is that the best minds know that they don't know. They know they're guessing. The average mind thinks they know what's happening and what will happen. Unfortunately, their ego and lack of self-awareness blind them to the reality of their limitations.

Think of today as a healthy dose of aggressive humility.

It's ok to guess what's going to happen. We all do in some way. But remember that it's a guess, not a guarantee.

Test your guesses. Validate them. Assess the confidence of your expectations against the reality of what actually happens. Most importantly, prepare for the fact that what you expect to happen, won't happen, and what you don't expect to happen, will happen. Because that's how it goes most of the time.

Answer the call. Do the work.
