6 Disciplines of Elite Leadership

There are no tricks or new science of leadership. There are only timeless disciplines. Here are six of them.

1. Find out what is important to the people you lead and make it important to you in ways they recognize and value.
2. Give more value to the people you lead than you expect to receive from them.
3. Follow through on everything as if your integrity is on the line because it always is.
4. Set the highest standards, demonstrate them, and teach people how to exceed them.
5. Drive performance through behavior skills first, then technical skills.
6. Require 100% responsibility and eliminate responsibility leaks.
