An obvious and easy way to stay self-aware

On Saturday night I was in Orlando speaking at the USA Football National Conference. A friend and client of mine asked me, “How do you personally get self-awareness in your life?”

I said, “Easy . . . I just look at my outcomes. The ones I get and the ones I want but can’t get. They tell me the truth.”

Because if I look at my outcomes, without adding my story or explanation, they give me direct awareness of what I’ve done, how good I am, how good I’m not, and where I stand.

High self-awareness is willingness to look at the truth about myself and accept it. Actual, observable results of the attitudes I hold, choices I’ve made, and action’s I’ve done/avoided.

That’s my obvious and easy ticket to reliable self-awareness.
