Separate the goal of your effort from the purpose of your effort.

The goal of an effort is the target you try to hit. The purpose of an effort is your reason for doing it in the first place.

The goal of working out might be to reach a certain weight or set a personal best record. The purpose of working out is for quality and longevity of life.

Goals are a function to serve a bigger purpose.

  • What is your goal at work? What is the purpose?
  • What is your goal when you compete? What is the purpose?
  • What is your goal on social media? What is the purpose?

The goal is the aim. The purpose is the reason. Separate and clarify to sharpen the discipline of your effort.

The time is now. Do the work.
