After thousands of years, you'd think we'd have more clarity. You'd think we've learned enough to filter out unnecessary, unproductive complexity. You'd think we'd have less of what doesn't work and more of what does in every corner of life.
But what do we have? What do you see?
- More apps, channels, devices, and social media.
- More needs, voices, opinions, and initiatives.
- More fears, complaints, arguments, and victimization.
Society has yet to learn that more doesn't mean better. We are wasting the wisdom of history.
We light the match of more and blame the flame. We add logs and complain that there's a fire. We spray gasoline and play the victim when we get burned.
Society always falls into the trap of more. It will not veer off this path, at least not in our lifetime. But you can.
The world around you will continue blazing with complexity. Do not light the match of more. Do not add logs. Do not spray gasoline.
The more complex the world becomes, the more valuable your simplicity gets. It will not come from an app, the media, your company, or society. It must come from you.
The only way to thrive in this inferno of complexity is by immersing yourself in simplicity.
Brick by brick. Do the work.
