Build massive confidence with minimal ego

Confidence versus ego has always been difficult to define. Yes, they are different. Maybe people will never understand. No, there isn’t an objective standard.

Confidence is believing you are capable. It says, “I can do this.” Build massive confidence that you can do, perform, and achieve anything you decide to earn. Even if it takes a long time and you eventually fail, you give yourself a chance, learn more, and create new opportunities. Confidence says, “The direction I’m going is the right one for me and it’s going to pay off in an important way, even if it’s only to learn how not to do it.”

Ego is believing you are entitled. It says, “I deserve this.” Eliminate ego that thinks you are special, important, or immune to admitting fault. Even if you are successful in protecting your image, you damage credibility, detach from reality, and expose yourself to unnecessary risk. Ego says, “Whether I’m right or wrong, I have to win and protect myself, even if it’s only in appearance.”

Ego is focused on image, credit, and escaping criticism above all. Confidence is focused on action, results, and being valuable above all. Everything else is for other people to debate and decide.

Feed confidence. Starve ego.

Do the work.
