If you’ve decided to step up to this week’s challenge, and I hope you have, start with one simple thought: don’t run away from discomfort.
Stay with discomfort a little longer than you usually would. Don’t react. Sit with it. Feel it. Familiarize yourself with it. Can you feel discomfort -- then calm your mind and be with it without needing to eliminate it?
See what happens when you don’t immediately attempt to distance yourself from discomfort and instead simply be with it.
You don’t have to befriend discomfort.
You don’t have to enjoy it.
You don’t have to force it.
What if you learned not to fear discomfort?
What if you learned not to view it as a negative to avoid?
What if you embraced its temporary nature and learned to see beyond it?
Today, focus on not reacting to discomfort. Just be with it because it will be with you, in one form or another, at one time or another, for the rest of your life.
The time is now. Do the work.
