Day two of E+R=O

Let’s begin with three basic understandings of E+R=O. This is called “The E+R=O Mindset”. I’ve expanded it some here for you to help it stick in the mind at a deeper level.

  • I can influence events, but I can’t control them.
  • I can create outcomes, but I can’t control them.
  • I control my response.

Why begin with these basics? Because it’s easy waste energy trying to control events and outcomes and lose control of your response. When attempts to control events and outcomes inevitably don’t work, the impulsive response is to BCD (you can learn more about BCD here and here).

Through the simple structure of “The E+R=O Mindset” you can avoid these easy but common mistakes.

Stop trying to control the things and people around you. You can’t. Focus instead on controlling yourself to create great things and contribute to the people around you. That is in your control.

Discipline is the shortcut. Do the work.
