Last Thursday I wrote, ‘Be ruthless with your excuses.’ Many of you replied to ask for more clarity on that. I’m happy you did because I will gladly do so.
If I expand the phrase I would say, ‘Be ruthless in eliminating your excuses.’ I could have written it that way. That may be a better way to say it. It’s more direct. Certainly more obvious. Here’s what I believe is the value to you, if applied with purpose.
First, to be aware of the excuses that pose a threat to you. Second, to be self-aware of your specific excuses, the ones you consistently tell and believe. Third, to be ruthless in eliminating them so you don’t give them a home to undermine you from the inside like a virus.
There are things to be patient and gentle with. Your excuses aren’t one of them.
Discipline is the shortcut. Do the work.
