Dream Big and Make It Happen: Part 1

Think back to five years ago. Remember who you were then: what you were doing, what you were concerned about, what filled your attention. Can you remember the priorities that dominated your mind? Can you remember, five years ago, the dreams you envisioned chasing and accomplishing?

Our focus this week is to dream big and make it happen.

I want to spend time together on this topic because I believe we still have so much to learn about it. Part of me thinks we've heard so many clichés about following your dreams that we now tune them out. It's all white noise. Been there, heard that.

I get it.

So we're going to slow down, open our minds, and, more importantly, our hearts to discover new truths about our dreams and how we work to make them happen. The aim is to go deeper and more honestly into yourself to uncover a heightened sense of purpose, new possibilities, and the untapped power to bring them to life.

If we view this as a battle, and in many ways it is, you face a fight on two fronts:

  1. The size, clarity, and purpose of your dreams.
  2. The quality, intensity, and resilience of your work to make them happen.

Plenty of people dream big, but they dream without doing the necessary work to make it happen. I call this: big dreams with small work.

Plenty of people work hard, but they work without a big dream guiding their effort, aiming too far below their capability, and worse, accepting it as their fate. I call this: small dreams with big work.

Big dreams take big work. It can be no other way.

It is still a rare exception to be the person who commits to dream big and make it happen. It's uncommon. Not because it is so hard. Not because it is so crowded. Not because it is so confusing.

It's uncommon and rare because we do not use our time to explore ourselves, consider the brief time we have to accomplish so much, and align our entire lives with our strongest purpose.

If you are willing, that journey starts today.

Answer the call. Do the work.
