People are persuaded through emotional connection, not rational explanation, because emotion moves people to action. It makes people ignore facts, eliminate reason, and justify any argument. It makes people have faith, continue against all odds, and trust their instincts. If you want anyone to do anything, emotion is the trigger to make it happen.

Your influence grows with your ability to make people feel specific things in specific situations. All the answers and explanations in the world won’t do much if you can’t touch the emotion that moves people to action. Find the right emotional trigger by creating real emotional connections with people. What matters to them? What opinions do they have? What are they struggling with? What do they want? A little understanding can create a lot of alignment.
