How do people want you to take feedback?

The advice, “Don’t take it personally” has never felt useful, let alone accurate. Feedback you receive about things you care about is absolutely personal.

When your time, effort, and energy go into something, it becomes personal. If it’s feedback about you, how you’re doing, and the impact you’re having, that’s personal. Stop trying to make it anything else.

How you do your job, parent, communicate, make eating decisions, etc. All personal in significant ways. But in this case, personal does not mean private.

Let’s begin unpacking this powerful topic tomorrow.

Discipline is the shortcut. Do the work.
