I don’t know if anyone has ever told you this, but the best version of you does not experience less challenges. You actually take on more.
That’s how you become the best version of yourself. By stepping into the challenges you’re resisting and stepping up to the discipline required to overcome them.
Becoming the best version of you does not mean taking on these challenges once you feel ready. That’s not how it works. You take them on before you feel ready. The challenge is your proving ground. You can’t prove it before. Not to yourself or anyone else. The only place you will ever find true answers is in the challenge, never before.
Becoming the best version of you is an act of courage. It always includes facing the things you feel unprepared to face. It always involves stepping out of the known and certain and into the unknown and uncertain.
It means stepping forward into doubt, criticism, or an unpopular decision. It means letting go of a good thing before you’ve earned the great thing, but trusting that you will earn it. It is an inherently uncertain path.
There’s fear in that. And grief in what you leave behind. But the call to bring that version of you to life is undeniable.
So grab hold of your courage, dig into your discipline, and take on the challenges that form your identity and define your life.
Event + Response = Outcome. Do the work.
