How To Handle Criticism Like A Pro!

When you receive feedback or criticism, instead of defending yourself or trying to disprove it, repeat the feedback out loud. Even better if you repeat it out loud to the person who criticized you or provided the feedback.

This approach (1) helps you gain clarity on what was said and understand the implications, (2) demonstrates to you and the other person that you’re willing to honestly evaluate the feedback, and (3) ensures that you think about the feedback in a deliberate and disciplined way.

This way you’ll stay in a position of humility and confidence as you consider the accuracy and value of feedback. From there you can decide a better course of action for how to respond.

It’s that simple. You just have to do it. Especially when it’s hardest to do.

Answer the call. Do the work.
