It isn’t a role that establishes the excellence of a person. It’s the person who brings distinction to a role. Excellence is established because of the individual not because of the seat they occupy.
Nor is character and competence granted because someone holds a position with a prominent title. A position of authority might give a person power but it doesn’t give them principles worth admiring, following, or emulating. Those come exclusively from the individual filling the post.
A position is as good as the quality of the person who holds it.
