I will give you a glaring example of how your thoughts and beliefs feed your decisions and actions. It revolves around the act of honesty.
Telling the truth is simple. More than that, it is easy. You share facts or opinions, information or perspective, with others. You express or communicate something to someone else as you see it and understand it. You can do this. Easily. Anyone can.
But that is not how people think about honesty. They don’t believe honesty is easy. They believe telling the truth is hard.
So, which is it: hard or easy?
It’s whatever you tell yourself it is. If you want to believe telling the truth is hard, then that is what you will believe and how you will treat it. If you choose to believe honesty is easy, that is what you will believe and how you will treat it.
What you believe about honesty and how you think about it determines the honesty you bring to your decisions and actions. Thinking drives decisions. Beliefs drive behaviors.
Reflect on this. Pressure test it. Explore your beliefs. Observe your thoughts. Examine your decisions. Audit your actions.
