Is this as good as you get?

Here's a big question to think about going into the weekend:
How much better can you get?

It's not an easy question to answer. It creates more questions first. Mainly:

  • Are you a final product, as good as you'll ever be?
  • Where are you putting legitimate effort into getting better?
  • How hard and how often are you working at it?

The siren song of autopilot is real and attractive. It threatens to pull you down and anchor you to a lesser version of yourself. You can easily accept your existing patterns and live them out in a relatively fixed manner. Many people you know live this way and have been for a long time. Good people. Maybe you're one of them.

Autopilot seduces with its promise of convenience and freedom from discomfort. It persuasively suggests that any strenuous effort to improve isn't worth it. It tells you that the way things are is "good enough."

Maybe you are done bettering yourself. Perhaps you're already a final product. This is as good as you get. Or maybe not. I don't know.

I only know who is responsible for making that decision in your life.

Answer the call. Do the work.
