Leadership is a work of art

The Sistine Chapel and Statue of David are transcendent because of their artistry, the craft, and the care it took to bring them to life.

It’s not because of painting tactics, techniques, or strategies. Works like these could never be made or understood through techniques.

The study of leadership gets caught up in tactics, techniques, and strategies. What gets lost is the art and craft of leading people.

Great works of art come through the artist, not from the artist.

Great leadership comes through the leader, not from the leader.

Answer the call. Do the work.
