I love a good system. And when it’s relevant, I love having a checklist I can use to work through it.
So, here’s is a dual checklist of questions you can use to discover where you’re getting stuck on an issue. These checklists are amazing for helping anyone work through a personal issue.
Pay attention to the simplicity of these checklists and questions. It’s on purpose.
Start with these six yes or no questions. Answer all of them before moving on. This will raise your self-awareness and start pushing you into stronger discipline and confidence.
- Am I aware of what’s happening?
- Do I understand it?
- Have I made a decision?
- Have I taken action?
- Am I experiencing consequences?
- Have I made adjustments?
Then expand and dive deeper with these probing questions:
- What relevant things are involved with this that I’m not aware of?
- What am I aware of but don’t completely understand?
- What decisions do I need to make before anything can begin to improve?
- What actions to I need to take before anything can begin to improve?
- What consequences am I experiencing from the awareness, understanding, decisions, and actions I’ve done so far?
- What adjustments have I made and how have they affected consequences?
