One Skill To Rule Them All

One of my favorite aspects of discipline is its utility. Discipline is the Swiss Army knife of personal skills, but stronger and more robust. Discipline provides for all your needs, no matter what they are.

Discipline can be a tool for performance and for personal fulfillment. It can drive you into extreme focus and steer you to a wider perspective. It can push you to give intense effort and pull you back when it’s time to recover.

Discipline is not one way of doing things. It’s better understood as high standards with an open mind, consistency with flexibility, and committed action with a willingness to adjust. Once you figure out discipline and how to use it, it meets you where you are and gives you what you need.

So the relevant question each of us can ask ourselves is:

Where can discipline best serve my life and my priorities today?

Answer the call. Do the work.
