The #1 discipline of great competitors

There is a competitive aspect to life. Sometimes it’s just for fun. The pride of victory is the main reward. Competition gets more serious when the reward is money or power.

People compete for all kinds of things: attention, resources, mates, ideas, principles, influence, status, and much more.

Not everything people compete for is good, necessarily, but competition is built into the natural world and into our human nature itself. So we must bring discipline to it.

One particular discipline gives competitors who use it an enormous advantage:

When it’s time to compete, they compete without hesitation. They step forward into competition without knowing whether they’re going to lose or win. They submit to the fate of the competition before they know what it is.

The biggest advantage of a disciplined competitor is their willingness to compete with full commitment when the outcome is uncertain.

Event + Response = Outcome. Do the work.
