The real joy of competition.

Competition is part of life.

Not everyone prefers to compete or enjoys it, but it's in our DNA. For most of history, people unwilling to compete were relegated to scraps, often struggling simply to survive. Now we have the option not to compete, thanks to the comforts of modern life.

Still, competition exists everywhere in nearly everything. We compete for attention and resources. We compete for jobs and promotions. We compete in sports with our friends and games with our families.

What I love and respect about competition isn't winning or defeating an opponent. For me, competition isn't about the result or the reward. It's about the experience.

Winning and losing are variable and beyond our direct control. If these were in our control, we'd win every time.

Competition is about the space between winning and losing and what we do with it. That part is in our control. That is where the magic of competition exists.

Not in the outcome but in the experience of earning it.

The time is now. Do the work.
