There are always obstacles between you and what you want.

There is always an obstacle between you and what you want. Always. Usually, more than one.

The question isn’t whether there’s an obstacle. It’s whether you recognize the obstacle, address it, and how.

The obstacle isn’t always a barrier or opposition. The obstacle is often the amount of time and volume of effort it takes to earn what you want. It’s one year of disciplined effort without seeing progress and three years before you start earning the results you want.

The obstacle isn’t always external, either. The biggest obstacles are usually internal: fear, doubt, ego, insecurity, etc. You’re unlikely to overcome the more significant external obstacles in life until you overcome the obstacles within you.

Marcus Aurelius wrote, “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.” Ryan Holiday crystallized this truth into, “The obstacle is the way.” And they’re right.

But it’s also true that whatever way you decide to go, you will face obstacles.

So, choose your way or choose your obstacle. There are obstacles on every way and new ways to discover by overcoming obstacles.

Brick by brick. Do the work.
