Skill is context dependent, which means so is success. What someone understands and applies in one context doesn’t mean they understand and apply it in a different context. Being good in one environment doesn’t mean you’ll be good in a different environment.

The technical term is "domain dependence". Think of domain and context as synonyms. It means skill is linked to context. Most personal skills don’t reliably transfer from one context to another. That's why some people are tremendously empathetic at work and emotionally detached at home, or the reverse. Different domains without skill transfer between them.

That's why we teach a system of behavior skills that apply to everything. Part of our mission is to erase the line of context dependence. Use the system everywhere because it just works.
