Treat your attention like an asset

Things don’t get your attention. You give your attention to things.

The difference is fundamental and shapes the foundation of your life.

If you believe things get your attention, then you take a position of weakness. Things happen to you. Circumstances can control you. It’s weak because it makes you easily manipulated by external triggers while also denying responsibility for it.

If you believe you give attention to things, you take a position of strength. You decide what deserves your attention and what doesn’t. You control you, never circumstances. It’s strong because it makes you directed by internal priorities, unaffected by external triggers, and responsible for the consequences of where you place your attention.

Embrace the chase. Do the work.
