Why don’t people talk about this?

People spend almost no time practicing how to handle success. Especially when it involves money, status, power, and fame. It’s part of the reason I believe winning derails people more than losing.

Just watch how people respond when they start achieving major success. Motivations change. Desire fades. Effort slacks. Ego creeps. Comfort dominates. Not everyone. Not every time. Not all the time. But frequently enough that it’s one of the biggest untrained skills I’m seeing right now.

If you truly want to be prepared for life, then get yourself ready for all the ways winning will affect you and your environment. Otherwise, your success presents a tremendous risk to cut you down as quickly as it propped you up.

Discipline is the shortcut. Do the work.
