Character Is Not A Fixed Quality

Character is not a fixed quality. You weren’t born with it, you choose it or absorb it, and it develops from there as you move through life. It isn’t something you have because you say so, it’s something you have because you do so. It is an internal quality that drives external credibility when it is demonstrated in action, especially when it is under real pressure.Because character is not a fixed quality it requires improvement and discipline. Your character is, like your body, something that benefits tremendously from attention, effort, and evaluation. A person’s character needs to be tested before it can be trusted. Some people believe they are one kind of person only to find out, in revealing moments, they aren’t the person they thought they were. They never tested their own character, failed to evaluate and strengthen it, and it broke under pressure.
