Most of you don’t know this but after one semester and season playing college football, I dropped out and moved back to LA to become an actor. For the next year I trained with a coach, performed two-hour improv shows twice a week, practiced on camera, and auditioned countless times for stone-faced agents and producers.
After a year, despite enjoying the work and creating some success, I decided I didn’t want the life of an actor. I returned to my true love playing football and finished college in Ohio. Now twenty years later a huge portion of my job is in front of audiences and on-camera. I didn’t know it back then, but I was training myself with highly valuable skills for my future profession. It just wasn’t for acting.
Everything is training for something.
Do the work. Embrace the chase.
