It should not be controversial to say:
To reach higher heights, you must aim higher and pursue better. To achieve more valuable rewards, you must choose higher standards and work harder to live them.
People who reach for better opportunities earn them more consistently. People who pursue better results produce them more often. People who aim at higher targets hit them more frequently.
They are not flawless in their pursuit. They still miss. They still fail. They still come up short of the standards they set, just like all of us.
But because they aim higher, they reach higher heights more often. And when they fail to reach those lofty goals, when they miss the mark, they usually still hit a higher mark than most people.
The failed efforts of people who aim high produce more than the successful efforts of people who aim low. They may not hit the mark they aimed for, but the mark they hit is still well above average.
When you aim for exceptional and come up short, you're still in the zone of great or really good. Set standards and pursue goals so high that, even when you fail, you still succeed and accomplish more than if you had aimed lower.
Brick by brick. Do the work.
