Discipline takes work. That is not a secret. It not only takes work to get better — it takes work to be disciplined at all.
Discipline demands self-control, effort with intention, and action with purpose. It requires restraint in certain situations, aggression in others, and the discretion to know that difference.
All of that requires a level of effort and energy that people are not always willing to give.
We don’t struggle with discipline because we don’t believe in it. We struggle with the amount of work it requires. Our struggles revolve around the effort it takes to do it well when it matters.
What makes the work of discipline worth it? That is a personal question.
So what I really need to ask is, what makes the work of discipline worth it for you?
Event + Response = Outcome. Do the work.
